芒种，民间也称“忙种”
正是农事耕作的好时节
有芒的稻子可种
有芒的麦子快收
一“收”一“种”之间
辛勤的汗水滴落
收获的笑意绽放
Grain in Ear is the ninth solar term. It begins when the Sun reaches the celestial longitude of 75° and ends when it reaches the longitude of 90°. It more often refers in particular to the day when the Sun is exactly at the celestial longitude of 75°. In the Gregorian calendar, it usually begins around June 5 (June 6 East Asia time) and ends around June 21.
芒种是第九个节气。太阳到达天经75°时开始，到达经度90°时结束。它更经常指的是太阳正好位于天经75°的那一天。在公历中，通常从6月5日（东亚时间6月6日）左右开始，到6月21日左右结束。
The arrival of Grain in Ear signifies the ripening of awny crops such as wheat. And it is also a busy period for farmers. That can be seen from many farm sayings. One of the sayings is, “Getting busy with farmwork in Grain in Ear,” prevailing in many provinces. Grain in Ear is especially critical for planting rice. There is a saying in Guizhou that goes, “If you don’t plant rice in Grain in Ear, planting will be in vain.”
芒种意味着小麦等农作物的成熟。对农民来说，这也是一个繁忙的时期，这可以从农场的谚语中可以看出。其中一种说法是，芒种的时候一定要地里忙着农活。芒种对种植水稻来说特别重要的。贵州有句谚语说，如果在芒种期间不种植稻米，那么将一无所获。
In ancient China, on the second day of the second lunar month, people welcome the arrival of the Flower Goddess. During Grain in Ear people hold sacrificial ceremonies to bid farewell to the flora and show their gratitude.
"An Miao" (meaning seedling protection) is a traditional farming activity of southern Anhui province that has been practiced since the early Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Every year when Grain in Ear comes, they hold the sacrificial ceremony to pray for good harvests in the fall.
